When he knew that the mighty army of Assyria was coming to attack Judah, King Hezekiah took some important steps to ready the land and army, plugging springs and blocking rivers, building walls and towers, and making shields and weapons. However, he told the Israelites that the God of Israel was with them and was mightier than the army of the Assyrians, which had destroyed many countries larger and stronger than them.
In a letter to the King and people of Israel, the Assyrian king Sennacherib asked "On what are you basing your confidence?"
