The Eighth Commandment requires that you believe in private ownership of property. Th|mais
The Eighth Commandment requires that you believe in private ownership of property. This does not have to be the current Western version of ownership, but it some concept. The New Testament certainly doesn't teach primitive Communism, but generosity after the providing our own and our family' reasonable needs.
To steal is to distrust God's ability to provide for our needs, Psalm 79:18. We steal from God by taking His day for ourselves and by not giving to Him out of His generosity to us. We steal from each other by taking from each other and by withholding from them what is their due. We rob ourselves by being mean with money or by misusing our money or time.
We can avoid stealing by working to provide sufficiently to help others and by relying on God for His provision, Hebrews 3:5.
