Need for Speed

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain” 1Cor 9:24.

When you start a long race you need a take-off speed. There is so much zeal at this stage to win but as the race prolongs tiredness sets in and your speed kind of reduces. But then getting to the finish line you gather a new speed to finish.  You can see the finish line and you can see people all around cheering you “finish hard”. Some way somehow a new strength comes from "nowhere" and you dash across the line.

This is a perfect scenario of the Christian faith. When Jesus brought the message of hope to the apostles and disciples, there was such a zeal for them to get the message across to the whole world in the shortest possible time. They went about it as though tomorrow will never come and grace was sufficient. There was some speed (divine) to get the work done. That was the beginning of the race. But as the race prolonged things went normal. The generations following, the speed dwindled.

But yes there is a finish line in view now. Jesus told the disciples in Matthew 24 of all the things that will happen before His second return. In verse 33-34 he said, “So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” No doubt the line is in view and the time is very limited.

There is a need for speed to get this message across to the remaining people and nations. The urgency of the times!!! Zeph1:14. The day “hastens quickly”.....
